As you know I will be going to India in December to minister to the people in the area known as Andhra Pradesh. They recently have had the worst floods in over 100 years. I'll post something new for you! It has been a very long time, I know. A few things running through my mind...I just turned 60! Yikes! But, I look forward to the new decade..I feel great and am anticipating lots of fun things happening. I'm going to India on as missions trip in December for one. I also think I may have a grandbaby in this decade (no news, just anticipating) and maybe another wedding? Who knows, but life is good and I'm excited!
On a sad note, Skeeter's dog got hit by a car and died last week. We are all very sad about it and only time will heal his broken heart!
I just got back from a wonderful trip to Maine with my buddies. We have been friends for a very long time and we had a wonderful time of celebrating my birthday and making lots of new memories.

Easter

Just a few photos of Easter this year. It was such a great day ... so casual yet so nice to just hang with family after a wonderful Celebration of Easter morning. Jeff and Nikki came to decorate Eggs with us on Friday so we got to enjoy them for a bit, but Skeeter had to work all weekend and so I was without my kiddos. Other than that it was the perfect day!

"'What shall I do, then, with the one you call the king of the Jews?' Pilate asked them" (Mark 15:12 NIV).

Two thousand years ago, in the Middle East, an event occurred that permanently changed the world. Because of that event, history was split. Every time you write a date, you're using the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the focal point.

What does this mean to us today? In one sense, Jesus Christ is still on trial. He's on trial in the heart and mind of every person who has not yet acknowledged Him as the Son of God, the Savior of the world.

Was Jesus a liar, a lunatic, or Lord?

Jesus claimed to be the Savior of the world. In John 12:47, He is recorded as saying: "I didn't come to judge the world. I came to save it." Some people say, "I believe Jesus was a good teacher." But, He couldn't be just a good teacher because a good teacher would not say, "I'm God, and I'm the only way to heaven." A good person would not say that unless it was the truth.

What's your verdict?

- Is Jesus who He says He is? Is He God? Or is He a lunatic or a liar?

- If He is who He says He is, when will you start following what He says to do with your life?

Today, you sit in judgment of Jesus Christ. Just as Pilate asked, "What shall I do then with Jesus who is called the Christ?" you also must decide whether He was who He said He was or not.

Easter is Sunday...Have you thought about what it means?

God's plan is what I call "The Great Exchange."

The Bible says, "God took the sinless Christ and poured into Him our sins. Then, in exchange, He poured God's goodness into us!" (2 Corinthians 5:21 LB).

I don't know how to make it any clearer than to say it like this: You're never going to be good enough to get into heaven because it's perfect and you stopped being perfect a long time ago. It is Christ's goodness in you that makes you acceptable. You're not perfect, but He is. So God says, "We'll do a little switcheroo here. Jesus will take your sins and you get My goodness in your life." That's quite a deal!

A lot of people feel trapped by their past. They say, "If you knew what I've done, you'd know I'd never be acceptable to God." I don't know what you've done, but God does and He still accepts you: "God says He will accept us and acquit us,declare us 'not guilty'if we trust Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, by coming to Christ, no matter who we are or what we have been like" (Romans 3:22 LB).

No matter who we are or what we've been like! We can all be saved. He makes us acceptable to God.

Frozen Shoulder

Many of you know that I have been dealing with a very frustrating left shoulder pain which I believe is a syndrome called Frozen Shoulder. It has been a thorn in me for about 9 months now and I am happy to say that it is about 99% better after seeking treatment from numerous professionals. My biggest nightmare is coming true ... my right shoulder is developing the same symptoms! It sucks! I ran across a blog that defines it quite well so I'm posting here just in case you're interested!
Description

Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) is a disorder characterized by pain and loss of motion or stiffness in the shoulder. It affects about two percent of the general population. It is more common in women between the ages of 40 years to 70 years old. The causes of frozen shoulder are not fully understood. The process involves thickening and contracture of the capsule surrounding the shoulder joint. A doctor can diagnose frozen shoulder based on the history of the patient's symptoms and physical examination. X-rays or MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) studies are sometimes used to rule out other causes of shoulder stiffness and pain, such as rotator cuff tear. Risk Factors/Prevention

Frozen shoulder occurs much more commonly in individuals with diabetes, affecting 10 percent to 20 percent of these individuals. Other medical problems associated with increased risk of frozen shoulder include: hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Parkinsons disease, and cardiac disease or surgery. Frozen shoulder can develop after a shoulder is injured or immobilized for a period of time. That's me..Of course I have hypothyroidism so maybe that's what has caused this misery. Attempts to prevent frozen shoulder include early motion of the shoulder after it has been injured. Pain due to frozen shoulder is usually dull or aching. It can be worsened with attempted motion.

The hallmark of the disorder is restricted motion or stiffness in the shoulder. The affected individual cannot move the shoulder normally. Motion is also limited when someone else attempts to move the shoulder for the patient. Some physicians have described the normal course of a frozen shoulder as having three stages:

* Stage one: In the freezing stage, which may last from six weeks to nine months, the patient develops a slow onset of pain. As the pain worsens, the shoulder loses motion.

* Stage two: The frozen stage is marked by a slow improvement in pain, but the stiffness remains. This stage generally lasts four months to nine months.

* Stage three: The final stage is the thawing, during which shoulder motion slowly returns toward normal. This generally lasts five months to 26 months.

So here is my frustration with people who JUST DON?T GET IT: the recovery from this is very long.

Costa Rica

We just got back from yet another wonderful trip to Costa Rica! It is so beautiful there and so unspoiled by tourists and development although it is starting to change. We stayed at a beautiful but small lodge called Torgtuga del Mar...only 8 rooms and most of the time there was just 3 rooms occupied. It is owned and operated by a great young couple from Germany who fell in love with CR and made their dream come true. It really is a labor of love for them. And yes ... we will be back. Between this new little slice of paradise and Karahe we don't need to stay anywhere else!

Challenging Times for our Family

The past few months have been a bit trying for the Leeper family as my nephew, Kelly has been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Kelly is 24 years old and was married to a wonderful young lady (Laura) last July. Shortly after they were married, Kelly was diagnosed. Kelly is no ordinary man. He was born with a severe heart defect at birth that was corrected surgically and he is indeed a miracle. He was given a 3% chance of surviving, but I believe that it is because Kelly has such a strong and positive outlook on life, and mostly because he loves and follows Jesus with all of his heart that he leads a perfectly normal life. In fact if you met Kelly you would never know that there was anything wrong with him. As the years have gone by, we as a family tend to take Kelly for granted...shame on us! Well, we are brought to our knees as we process this cancer diagnosis for him. Kelly has more strength than any of us, and because of him, we all have a positive outlook and are believing God for a full recovery. This is a very treatable type of cancer. Kelly started Chemo this week, and we are all concerned about his heart. The cardiologist has said "what is everyone so worried about? Kelly's heart is strong! He'll be fine!!!" Kelly's prayer and all of our prayers are for full recovery, and also that he won't suffer from any of the side effects that the Dr. says he will have. So, please join us in praying for him and his wife Laura!

I can't believe how long it has been since I have posted anything on this blog! I decided that it is 2009 and time for changes! That seems to be the operative word ... change. I have no idea what the new year will bring, but I do know one thing for sure. I am moving forward! I am going to make some changes in me! Maybe because I will be turning another big number in 2009? or maybe I just feel God nudging me to move on with my life. So for starters, I am attending a seminar at the end of the month. I really have no idea what to expect, but I do know that I will come away with something! and that something should be a positive change in me.
I also have discovered holistic medicine which is also a change from everything I know. It started with major pain in my arm and shoulder 6 months ago. Since I didn't want to have surgery as an option I decided to try out some alternative treatments. The whole thing has led me to healthier eating, soul searching and just in general taking better care of myself. I'd love to say that my arm is totally healed, but it is 90% better and I anticipate complete healing! Stay tuned for more updates. ... I promise to be better at keeping this blog going.

The Big Fish Story

The boys (George, Jeff, Skeeter, Chas and Ryan) are home from their fishing tournament and although they didn't win the marlin contest, they scored big time! So much fish we don't know what to do with it all! I'll never say they can't catch fish again! They proved they can do it!

Well, I'm another year older and more blessed with each passing year! I had such a wonderful day ... not only was I surrounded by my family but also my buddy Mary was here to help me celebrate! I got so many calls, emails and cards ... Thank you all!
George took us to Ruth's Chris for a delicious dinner and Nikki made me her famous Cheesecake for dessert! It actually was a whole week of celebrating. George was so sweet to take me out to dinner almost every night of my B-day week, and then I was able to celebrate on Monday with my favorite chickies! Next year is a biggie! Yikes!

Road Trip

We just got home from a wonderful trip to visit Mike and Vikki in June Lake, and then onto Lake Tahoe to see Stan and Mary. The drive up and back on 395 is soooo beautiful! It was fun to see the Bauer's new house and had a wonderful dinner with them. We arrived in Tahoe to beautiful sunny skies and it was so nice to spend time with our dear friends. They are perfect hosts! Great meals, wonderful cruises on the Lake aboard the Bobsled, relaxation on the beach, and beautiful walks through the forest down to the Lake. Thank you!

Our Trip to La Paz

We just returned from a really fun time in La Paz, Mexico. I got to go visit the project where we have purchased a vacation home...at least that is the rumor. We have been in escrow for over 2 years, but you must remember we are talking Mexico. In any case, they are under way and the models got me excited.. Now I just have to be patient, and hope that George will be patient too. He is just about ready to throw in the towel. Jeff and Nikki came down to join us and we fished (see photos), ate and ate some more, relaxed and just enjoyed each other. Next time we hope Skeet can join us too.

Skeeter meets Shark!

Well, Skeeter, the adventurer just got back from Puerto Escondido and points south and brought us a frightening story. Actually he just about gave his mom a heart attack just hearing about it. We have been emailing amongst the family while he was away talking about the back to back shark attacks in Ixtapa and the one in Solana Beach, but none of us were too worried about it. What are the chances? Apparently the odds are that if you are surfing in Mexico you will find a shark or shall I say a shark will find you. Here is Skeeter's story: OK OK OK.... I will tell you the story in person, but if you must know, My
life/death was resting in the simple brain of a HUGE (12 - 15 foot) tiger
shark. I didn't see it until it was 5 feet from me and it was aiming
straight at me. Ben and Justin were screaming at me before I saw it. He
decided that I was not food and left me alone. This was the biggest shark I
have ever seen.

Aunties are special

Yesterday was a sad day for my mom and I. My wonderful Auntie who was 94 years old went to be with the LORD. We are happy that she is no longer suffering as she was in poor health for a number of years, but it is still difficult to lose her. I have been blessed with so many wonderful Aunties. Aunt Mil (who died yesterday) and my Aunt Blanche and my Aunt Edna are the last remaining Aunties that I have. Aunt Edna is 98, Aunt Blanche is 96 and my dear mom is 90...the baby! These pics were taken in the Summer of 07..the last trip we made to Colorado to see them all. The first one, left to right is Aunt Mil and Aunt Edna and the next photo is my sweet mom and her sister Blanche. I love them all so much and will miss you Aunt Mil!

Minnesota with Mom

I am just back from a short trip to Minnesota with my adorable mother. Her grand daughter (actually step grand daughter) got married last Saturday at Breezy Pt. It's a beautiful lake resort in Northern Minnesota (burr!!). Cathy, the bride, her sister and their mom absolutely LOVE my mom. Cathy cried when she saw my mom and said that it made her wedding! How sweet is that? I am so fortunate to have my mom living close by and we had a wonderful time being together for 5 straight days!

Tonight Skeeter was awarded a Proclamation from the Mayor and City Council of Newport Beach for his heroism and selfless courage when he saved a 9 and 7 year old along with a surf instructor who was attempting to save them before Skeeter and John Moore arrived on the scene. We are sooooo proud of you! (You can read the article that was in the paper after the rescue above)

We are all so excited and happy that we will in just a matter of months have Mrs. Leeper #5. Nikki will be Mrs. Leeper next weekend!! and then Kelly and Laura will plan on being married by July or August. Our family is so blessed!

Just home from my favorite place

We just got home from my favorite place...see the photo on the left of this blog...We had such a great time. The first half was spent with Chas and Steph...our wonderful brother and sister in law. Thanks to you both for having us in such a beautiful place and cooking for us and spoiling us rotten!! Then we moved over the the Mauian which just feels like home to us. It is located on the most beautiful beach and is so casual. You can literally walk out the door in your PJ's to watch the whales going by and you will see 3 others in the same attire...just hanging and drinking our morning coffee. No TV's and no telephones...it is just the BEST!

Fishing in San Carlos

George and I just returned from a fun, romantic fishing trip in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico. The weather was great...warm and sunny(I know the photos look like we're cold, but that was early morning before we started taking layers off), and I even went fishing one whole day! I also, wanted to share our hot wheels while we were there "cruising". Our friend Ramon lent us his car...so nice of him and we looked very local!

Don' Give Up on Your Dreams

Our oldest son, Skeeter, had a dream since the time he was about 15 years old. His dream was to become a full time ocean Lifeguard...not just that but in a specific city. He was told when he became a seasonal guard to never count on this for a career. With a department of only 15 permanent guards it just won't happen. We encouraged him to go to other cities to seek his dream. Other places are hiring Skeeter...go for it! Well, he was determined that this is what he wanted. Long story short his dream came true! This week he completed his 1st year as Lifeguard Officer for the city where we live. And, he is passionate about what he does. We worried and fretted about his career and that he hadn't completed college, but God gave him a passion and He has given Skeeter the desire to do what he is doing. So, Don't ever give up and follow your heart and passions that you have in life! I am so proud of him, that in spite of what we thought, he just kept his goal in front of him. I love you Officer Leeper!!

A Seemingly uneventful Anniversary

It seems as if our Anniversary came and went..just another day gone by. I was sick in bed on Wednesday (the 9th) and so we canceled our plans of celebration. But, contrary to what the day seemed it was an Event!! 32 Years of marriage.. That in and of itself is a miracle. That any 2 people could work through years of ups and downs, happy times and sad times, good times and bad...for better or worse. That is what we vowed! We as a couple are happier today than we have ever been...more in love than we have ever been, and God willing will be together until death us do part! I thank God for giving me such a wonderful, faithful, adventuresome, fun loving man who is the rock of our family! Here's to 32 more years or beyond!

My Favorite Leeper Christmas Tradition

Every year before Christmas we all get dressed up in our Christmas best(the best we can do at least) and go out to dinner with just our family. This year we went to the Ritz...very nice...and enjoyed the evening together with all the beautiful decorations and the festive feel of the evening. But, my favorite part is something we started when the boys were very young. Everyone at the table affirms everyone else. It always brings tears to my eyes as we go around the table to compliment successes and character traits that we see in each other. It brings us close to each other and reminds us of all that God has blessed us with. And we added a family member this year...Nikki was with us too! It was a night to remember!

Six precious children that is! Yesterday Justus Eduardo Winger was born. There are plenty of people who think that Faith and Jonah have lost it...absolutely crazy they say. But, God has given them the biggest heart for all the children out there that need a loving family and now there are 6 in the Winger household! The Ruler Dude

And I actually nick named him that! He is the RD of this family but a loving one for sure! He is the patriarch of all of the Leeper clan and everyone loves and adores him...especially me! He is a wonderful husband and so so smart and provides for all of us and takes care of us all! He is loving and faithful and affectionate. I even wake up every morning to this voice from upstairs that says "I LOVE YOU"! We all LOVE YOU Ruler Dude!!

My Daughters

As you all know I have been blessed with 2 of the most wonderful sons I could ever hope for!! They are both amazing young men that make me proud to me their mom. I also have been blessed with many daughters..I hope each and everyone of you know how special you are to me...and you are too many to name. And then there is my step daughter, who is that county sup that I mentioned before. What an amazing lady...an actual elected official! Speaking about official... I am about to have an official daughter...that being my daughter in law to be and I could not have asked for a better one if I had to dream one up! But, starting when my boys were infants the pre-teen girl that lived across the street and adored being with my boys became my first daughter and I love her and her family dearly...then there is the one that married my "adopted African" who continues to bless my life daily. Also I now have many young ladies that I consider to be my daughters (I love being part of each one of their lives) that I have either had the privilege of discipling or meeting them through my sons and nephews. I also love my dear nieces who are such a joy to me. My family calls me "the mother to all" and I feel so privileged to have each and everyone of you in my life!

A Time to Give Thanks

Well the Holidays are here and tomorrow we celebrate my favorite day! A day that we gather together with family and friends to give Thanks to our Lord for all He has blessed us with. There is no expectation of gifts and the pressure that puts us into debt at Christmastime. Just a day to be grateful! Even for those of you who are considered poor in the US, we are wealthier than 95% of the World's population. Just think about that...if you live in a house with running water you are wealthier than 95% of the World's population. So, be grateful. I know I am! HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS!

Our Family is Growing

We got wonderful news today! Our family is growing once again. Faith and Jonah are expecting their 6th baby. It's a boy and will be born in about 8 days. They are filled with joy thinking about the upcoming birth of another blessing from God. They will be able to pick him up from the hospital when he arrives and we all can not wait to meet the newest member of our family!! What a blessing...not only to the Wingers...but to all of us!

My baby boy was born 27 years ago! Yikes! Does that make me old? The answer to that is of course, NO! Jeff is an unbelievable blessing to me. He has turned into a wonderful, caring, hard working, intelligent, fun loving, wonderful man! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JEFF! I love you so so much and I am so so proud of you!!

Big boy is home

I had a different week last week as I was home alone. At first it felt lonely and strange that the house was so quiet, but then after the 1st day I totally got into it. Out and about without worrying about when I should be home, no decisions about what's for dinner etc., it all felt great for a few days! I also got into some projects that I have been putting off. Like cleaning cupboards in the kitchen! What was I thinking?? Seriously though it felt great to get that done and cleaned up a bit before the Holidays hit! Porge called to say he was coming home early..originally he was coming home next Tues. but he got in last night. So now I am soooo happy to have him back. This is the way the house is supposed to feel. Filled with my husbands love and companionship and back to our routine of just being together. I am so blessed to have him for my honey! Welcome home Porge! I missed you!

Tears of joy

I am such a sap! What am I going to be like at the wedding...the MIL..zilla with black makeup running down my face I think. I just looked at the engagement pictures that Drew took of Jeff and Nikki and I am crying! Why? why? They are merely tears of joy at how happy they both

Boys coming and going...

The adventure continues for the Leeper boys. Jeff is just back from Cabo San Lucas where it is rumored that he caught a 300 pound Marlin...pictures will prove it I guess, but he says the camera never quite made it...likely "big fish" story!! Then the other 2 Leeper boys, George and Skeeter left last night for Costa Rica for business and "other" adventures...a big adventure having to do with the Big guy...I will miss them and already the house is way too quiet...guess I'll have to go shopping!!

I guess this is going to be my newest challenge and hopefully I'll get the hang of it. I just spent 20 minutes writing my first post and then managed to delete it! So here goes with another try. I am a 50..something, God fearing, wife of an amazing adventuresome husband ,mother of 2 wonderful sons, and step mom to a County Supervisor! At the moment we are all focused on the upcoming wedding plans of Jeff to Nikki Wenzel...soon to be Mrs. Leeper the 5th! I'll try to remember to write new posts and add some photos, but as you can tell this is all new to me...so we shall see what happens!
